Sheila Page, D.O., is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy. She treats a wide spectrum of patients from the newborn to the elderly, including patients with irreversible and terminal illness. Dr. Page (pictured right) has a special interest in children with disabilities, particularly those whose burden of care is difficult and who have been given little hope for a better quality of life. Dr. Page is one of our nearly 40 associate scholars. In this interview, she discusses palliative care and the science of fetal pain.
In your practice of medicine, you have worked with patients of various ages who are experiencing pain and who in some cases have serious, irreversible medical conditions. How do you seek to improve quality of life for these patients, and does your approach to treating your young patients differ from those who are older?
Page: Over the past 23 years, I have seen a broad spectrum of patients, including those who have either acute pain or breakthrough pain in chronic or terminal conditions. My goal is to help the patient to become pain-free or to improve their quality of life. Using osteopathic manipulative treatment, I try to increase mobility, decrease pain, and improve functions such as breathing, especially when the patient suffers from lung congestion or chest wall pain with breathing.
Using osteopathic manipulative medicine, I balance tensions in the fascial and tendinous elements of the body, relieving strains and congestion. The way I treat healthier adults is different than my approach to very frail patients, or children and infants. Sometimes, in order to resolve the problem, I have to directly touch painful areas, initially causing some pain. That discomfort usually resolves with successful treatment and the patient immediately feels relief. With children, I have to be very gentle and patient. They often are already in pain and at first are pretty upset about my treatment. Once they feel relief, however, they understand and are usually eager to be treated.

Disturbing images of dead children, allegedly killed by “organ farmers” in the Malaysia-Thailand border went viral online, warning parents never to let their children off their sight lest their young fall victim to these syndicates too.
The images, shared by Facebook user Goh Soo Heng, said that over 700 dead bodies of children were found with their organs being emptied. The images showed children lined up like livestock with cut marks all over them, some being tied up or ‘packed’ into cardboard boxes. The gruesome images suggest these are the work of organ farming syndicates, looking to kidnap children in order to harvest their organs for sale in the black market.
The Coverage are unable to verify the claims nor the origins of these images.

Germany has confirmed it is sending Leopard 2 tanks to Lithuania as part of NATO plans to reinforce the Baltic states. But the presence is largely symbolic, since Russia is still militarily superior in the region.
Protecting Lithuania from Russia is to be Germany’s responsibility, according to the new NATO defense plans that emerged at this week’s summit in Brussels. The German Defense Ministry showed on Wednesday evening just how seriously it is taking this task, confirming to the DPA news agency that next year it will be sending Leopard 2 tanks to the Baltic country’s Russian border in addition to the 650 soldiers it had already promised – though it would not clarify how many.
A NATO battalion of around 1,000 soldiers will be stationed in Lithuania as of June next year, and will then be rotated every six months. Around 450 to 650 of these troops are to be supplied by the Bundeswehr, while the others will come from France, Belgium and Croatia. German media reported that the combat-trained unit will also be equipped with tanks, armored vehicles, snipers, and engineers.

Britain will send hundreds more troops close to Russia’s border, the Government has said, as the Prime Minister also called for “pressure” on Moscow over the Syria crisis.
Around 800 soldiers along with tanks, armoured vehicles and drones will now head to Estonia in the spring in a Nato effort to reassure the Baltic states over Russian aggression.
The boosted mission, up from 500 announced earlier this year, will be Britain’s largest long-term deployment to one of Russia’s neighbours since the end of the Cold War.
While going through today’s main events, I noticed that they are not covered by the main stream media. In order to oversimplify the answer one can only use the three whys solution.
Why?
Because they don’t want for the people to be informed.
Why?
Is it because they don’t what to cause panic and because they hope and somehow know the men and women who are in charge of one’s nation destiny, know what they do and want to defuse the situation?
Why will the people in charge want to defuse this type of situation?
Mark Twain said, “If you don’t read the papers you’re uninformed. If you do read them, you’re misinformed.”
That’s why I want to draw your attention to a recent article called “The Isolationist Temptation,” in The Wall Street Journal, written by Richard Haass, the president of the Council on Foreign Relations.
The piece wasn’t worth reading—except that it offers some real insight into what the “elite” are thinking. The CFR is one of about a dozen groups, like Bilderberg, Bohemian Grove, and Davos, where the self-identified elite gather.
These groups don’t have political power, per se. But their members are members of governments, large corporations, universities, the military, and the media. They all went to the same schools, belong to the same clubs, socialize together and, most important, share the same worldview. What might that be? They believe in the State—not the market—as the best way to organize the world.
Believe it or not (I still don’t…) I was recently invited to one of these conclaves. Probably by mistake. I don’t expect to be a fox in the henhouse, but more like a skeleton at a feast. I’ll tell you all about it next month…

Since the Brexit referendum we have been developing our thoughts about what the Leave vote might mean, not just for the UK, but for the European project as a whole. And our main conclusion is that by doing the unthinkable and actually voting to leave, Brexit substantially increases the likelihood that other members of the European Union will also seek to break away. Remember, just two years after the UK similarly rejected the gold standard back in 1931 there were just 12 remaining members versus the 45 that had previously been committed. Life, in the western world has become comfortable. We have been raised to believe that if we have our big screen TV, the latest phone, car and clothes nothing else should matter. We shouldn’t be concerned on who or how are they made and how much suffering goes into building the modern western dream.
But it wasn’t built to last. It was built to numb us down. As one ex Black Panther member said: Where are all the vikings, knights, shoguns and legionaries who conquered the world?
Well … they are watching sports, porn, playing games, drinking bear and are concerned on how to be like the cast of the Big Bang Theory and be concerned about the latest fad. (Before I started to wake up I did the same, know I’m trying, little by little, to redeem my life because I don’t want for my soul to be cast from the face of God).
What might happen if we all decide to lay down and do nothing?
8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. What is going to take place if a global event like a world war will happen again? I believe that this time is different. This time there will not be winners and loosers like in the old wars. Because we now have the possibility to wipe out the entire planet out of existence.
Imagine this if you can…how was it possible for the human race to evolve so much in the last 10-20 years and not do the same from the beginning of our history until … lets say the 1800s? Is it because we have somehow changed our brain capacity and evolved into a new homo sapiens species and figure out what is our purpose or the true meaning of life? No. We are the same cave dwellers but with “smart” digital devices and nuclear weapons. But at least God saw the road we were heading for and gave us a free get out of jail card. Why I’m saying this is free? Easy….
We just have to believe that He loved us so much and didn’t throw Adam and Eve into the burning fire of Hell or that he didn’t wipe all us out during the flood and he sent His only Sun to die for all our sins in order for all of us the have a chance of living were we were supposed to live.
Don’t be troubled. If these are the last days then there is hope. This hope doesn’t lie in the guns, gold or some nuclear bunker in New Zealand, but it lies in Jesus.
