Abstract
Mercury (Hg) is a persistent bio-accumulative toxic metal with unique physicochemical properties of public health concern since their natural and anthropogenic diffusions still induce high risk to human and environmental health. The goal of this review was to analyze scientific literature evaluating the role of global concerns over Hg exposure due to human exposure to ingestion of contaminated seafood (methyl-Hg) as well as elemental Hg levels of dental amalgam fillings (metallic Hg), vaccines (ethyl-Hg) and contaminated water and air (Hg chloride). Mercury has been recognized as a neurotoxicant as well as immunotoxic and designated by the World Health Organization as one of the ten most dangerous chemicals to public health. It has been shown that the half-life of inorganic Hg in human brains is several years to several decades. Mercury occurs in the environment under different chemical forms as elemental Hg (metallic), inorganic and organic Hg. Despite the raising understanding of the Hg toxicokinetics, there is still fully justified to further explore the emerging theories about its bioavailability and adverse effects in humans. In this review, we describe current research and emerging trends in Hg toxicity with the purpose of providing up-to-date information for a better understanding of the kinetics of this metal, presenting comprehensive knowledge on published data analyzing its metabolism, interaction with other metals, distribution, internal doses and targets, and reservoir organs.

Conclusions
Like all types of research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses have both potential strengths and weaknesses. With the growth of renal clinical studies, an increasing number of these types of summary publications will certainly become available to nephrologists, researchers, administrators, and policy makers who seek to keep abreast of recent developments. To maximize their advantages, it is essential that future reviews be conducted and reported properly, with judicious interpretation by the discriminating reader.

Abstract
Background & aims
The relationship between mercury and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has always been a topic of controversy among researchers. This study aimed to assess the relationship between ASD and mercury levels in hair, urine, blood, red blood cells (RBC), and brain through a meta-analysis.
Methods
A systematic search was performed in several databases including PubMed, ISI Web of Science, Cochrane register of controlled trials, Google Scholar, Scopus, and MagIran until June 2017. Case-control studies evaluating concentration of total mercury in different tissues of ASD patients and comparing them to the healthy subjects (control group) were identified. Necessary data were extracted and random effects model was used to calculate overall effect and its 95% corresponding confidence interval (CI) from the effect sizes.
Results
A total of 44 studies were identified that met the necessary criteria for meta-analysis. The mercury level in whole blood (Hedges = 0.43, 95% CI: 0.12, 0.74, P = 0.007), RBC (Hedges = 1.61, 95% CI: 0.83, 2.38, P < 0.001), and brain (0.61 ng/g, 95% CI, 0.02, 1.19, P = 0.043) was significantly higher in ASD patients than healthy subjects, whereas mercury level in hair (−0.14 mg/g, 95% CI: −0.28, −0.01, P = 0.039) was significantly lower in ASD patients than healthy subjects. The mercury level in urine was not significantly different between ASD patients and healthy subjects (0.51 mg/g creatinine, 95% CI: −0.14, 1.16, P = 0.121).
Conclusions
Results of the current meta-analysis revealed that mercury is an important causal factor in the etiology of ASD. It seems that the detoxification and excretory mechanisms are impaired in ASD patients which lead to accumulation of mercury in the body. Future additional studies on mercury levels in different tissues of ASD patients should be undertaken.

A Mothers Worst Nightmare: Infant Son Dies After 13 Vaccines in One Day
As a parent, you do everything in your power to protect your children. What if that power is taken from you by the people you should trust the most? That’s exactly what happened to Alisa Neathery of Fort Worth, TX, when she took her six month-old unvaccinated baby to the doctor for the first time. It was combined into 3 shots and one taken orally. The doctor stated “Your boy is perfectly healthy and showed above average strength in his stomach and legs.” How would you feel having a pediatrician almost forcing you to vaccinate? I know that if I wasn’t aware about the dangers of vaccines, I would be inclined to believe them and trust their expertise.
When Alisa brought Bently home directly after receiving his combination of 13 vaccines, he was no longer making eye contact. He was extremely uncomfortable and was certainly not his usual joyful self.

Water has overflowed at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is attempting to discern the quality of the water and possible radioactive substances which could have been spilled.
TEPCO announced on Monday that the water overflowed in 12 areas of the plant.
Heavy rains caused water to flow over the barriers of an artificial embankment which surrounds a dozen tanks of radioactive water at the plant. TEPCO reported that liquid containing a source of beta radiation was found beyond the levees. The company said the incident was “due to heavy rain in the Tohoku region.” Company specialists are attempting to identify the amount of leaked water and the radiation levels present in the liquid. Radioactivity levels in a well near a storage tank at the Fukushima nuclear power plant have risen immensely, the plant’s operator earlier reported, fueling ongoing concern about the impact of radiation on the surrounding environment. Last Wednesday, heavy rains brought with Typhoon Wipha caused reservoirs for collecting rainwater to overflow. The natural disaster was described by weather forecasters as the strongest in a decade, leaving at least 17 people dead and 50 others missing in its wake. Workers at the Fukushima plant had to pump rainwater out of protective containers surrounding approximately 1,000 tanks holding radioactive water. It is thought that the heavy rains lifted contaminated soil.

The federal government has barred World War II Marine veterans from visiting the Iwo Jima Monument near the Arlington National Cemetery this Saturday, prompting North Country Honor Flight executive director Daniel Kaifetz to ask protesters planning to attend a ‘Million Vets’ march in DC on the same weekend to help remove the barricades.
Honor Flight, which pays for veterans to visit war memorials, is the organization that made headlines last week after helping vets break through barricades to visit the World War II Memorial in DC. The barricades were subsequently reinforced and wired shut.
On Saturday, Honor Flight veterans plan to break through barricades that have been placed around the Iwo Jima Monument, setting up a potential confrontation with National Park Service employees.
In a message to organizers behind the ‘Million Vet March on the Memorials’, a separate demonstration set to take place on Sunday morning at the World War II Memorial in DC, North Country Honor Flight executive director Daniel Kaifetz asks for assistance from the protesters in allowing vets to gain access to the Iwo Jima Monument.
“Five Honor Flights will be at the Memorial on Saturday Oct. 12, including my chapter the North Country Honor Flight. We would appreciate it if in someway you could channel some of your followers to realize the WW-II Memorial is now open for Honor Flight’s WW-II veterans under a “First Amendment” permit we have been granted,” writes Kaifetz.
“However we are still being DENIED access to the Iwo Jima Monument [Marine Corps Memorial] which is a standard stop for all Honor Flights. Do you see any way to get the word out on this and have a significant number of vets there on SATURDAY to assist us in getting access for dozens of WW-II Marine heroes who otherwise will never get the opportunity to see their monument?”
