Abstract
The biological properties of poxvirus isolates from skin lesions on dairy cows and milkers during recent exanthem episodes in Cantagalo County, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, were more like vaccinia virus (VV) than cowpox virus. PCR amplification of the hemagglutinin (HA) gene substantiated the isolate classification as an Old World orthopoxvirus, and alignment of the HA sequences with those of other orthopoxviruses indicated that all the isolates represented a single strain of VV, which we have designated Cantagalo virus (CTGV). HA sequences of the Brazilian smallpox vaccine strain (VV-IOC), used over 20 years ago, and CTGV showed 98.2% identity; phylogeny inference of CTGV, VV-IOC, and 12 VV strains placed VV-IOC and CTGV together in a distinct clade. Viral DNA restriction patterns and protein profiles showed a few differences between VV-IOC and CTGV. Together, the data suggested that CTGV may have derived from VV-IOC by persisting in an indigenous animal(s), accumulating polymorphisms, and now emerging in cattle and milkers as CTGV. CTGV may represent the first case of long-term persistence of vaccinia in the New World.

Co-Author of Lancet MMR-Autism Study Exonerated on All Charges of Professional Misconduct
Dr. John Walker-Smith, considered the father of pediatric gastroenterology, has today been restored to his much-deserved reputation of high esteem. His appeal of the U.K. General Medical Council’s 2010 decision to remove his license for serious professional misconduct has been quashed in its entirety. This decision raises questions about the validity of the 2010 GMC proceeding in general.
The GMC proceeding was a multi-year, multi-million dollar prosecution against Drs. Wakefield, Walker-Smith, and Murch. It related to a controversial 1998 study published in The Lancet suggesting a possible link between autism, the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine and bowel disease. Based on the GMC prosecution, both Drs. Walker-Smith and Wakefield lost their licenses to practice and the Lancet article was officially retracted. The GMC alleged that the physician-authors had failed to obtain necessary ethical clearances and that they had subjected the twelve children in the study to unnecessary medical procedures.
Justice Mitting, reviewing Dr. Walker-Smith’s appeal in the High Court of Justice, Queen’s Bench Division, Administrative Court, found that the GMC’s conclusions were “based on inadequate and superficial reasoning” and that “the finding of serious professional misconduct and the sanction of erasure are both quashed.”

This past Thursday, the University of Colorado-Boulder student government passed a resolution asking the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to recommend meningococcal vaccines for all incoming college students. ACIP will consider CU-Boulder’s resolution on June 24. ACIP’s first agenda topic will be the debate over recommending the meningococcal B vaccines for adolescents and college students.
With billions of dollars in annual revenue at stake, vaccine makers are pushing meningitis vaccine mandates across the country. Vaccine issues are always complex, but advocates of the meningitis mandate should consider some simple math.
Meningococcal meningitis is exceedingly rare. There were only about 390 cases in the U.S. last year. In a population of 319 million, that adds up to one case in 817,949 people. There were only three meningococcal meningitis cases in Colorado last year — one resulting in death. The CDC has approved three vaccines targeting the A, C, Y and W135 strains of meningitis: Menactra, Menveo and Menomune, which still contains significant mercury concentrations in multi-dose vials. These vaccines are effective in providing immunity to those strains of meningitis in only 85 percent of people who receive them.
Thirty percent of the meningitis cases are the B strain, which typically occur in college-aged kids and against which the three vaccines are completely ineffective.
The FDA recently approved two B strain meningococcal vaccines, Trumenba and Bexsero.Vaccine makers are pushing government officials to add them to the recommended schedule for the fall semester. Critics have faulted the government’s expedited safety and efficiency testing for the new B strain vaccines citing glaring lapses in safety protocols including the absence of inactive placebos. In addition, both new B vaccines are “pregnancy category B,” meaning that they should be administered to pregnant women only when necessary. Neither vaccine has been tested for carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or effects on male fertility.
According to their package inserts, Menactra and Menveo produce “serious adverse events” in 1 percent of recipients. Menomune, with its hefty mercury load, sickens 1.3 percent of those receiving it. According to the CDC Pink Book, 0.3 percent of those with “serious adverse events” from meningitis vaccines will die. So here is the math calculation that thoughtful student governments in Colorado must consider: If you inoculate Colorado’s 400,000 college students with the older vaccines, you can expect 4,000 serious adverse events and 12 dead. We do not yet know the effects of widespread vaccination of the hastily-expedited B vaccines, but according to their package inserts, about 2 percent of students who receive the B vaccine will be sickened or hospitalized with a serious adverse event. This could translate into an additional 8,000 sick students and 24 deaths, for a total of 12,000 sick and 36 dead in the attempt to possibly avert three meningitis cases.

A groundbreaking new drug safety study in Shanghai, China, provides some much needed information about the frequency of vaccine drug reactions among children.
Adverse drug reactions are a serious public health concern and one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide.1 More than a half million children are treated every year for adverse drug reactions in US outpatient clinics and emergency rooms.2
The Shanghai study, based on reported pediatric adverse drug reactions (ADRs) for 2009, found that 42 percent were caused by vaccines, with reactions ranging from mild skin rashes to deadly reactions like anaphylaxis and death. Of all the drugs causing adverse reactions among children, vaccines are the most commonly reported.3, 4
This study is particularly significant because the vast majority of reports came from physicians, pharmacists, and other health care providers. Less than three percent of the reports were from consumers.
Another safety report5 about pediatric drug reactions was just published by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) and lists the top 15 drugs causing serious adverse reactions in children.
Psychiatric drugs and analgesics (especially ibuprofen) figure prominently in their top 15 list. The report also mentions psychological side effects such as aggression and suicidal ideation as frequent symptoms from 10 of the 15 most commonly reported drugs.

SAN ANTONIO — There is little that Dr. Lindsay Irvin has not done for the children’s vaccines in her office refrigerator: She remortgaged her home to afford their rising prices. She packed them in ice chests and moved them when her office flooded this year. She pays a company to monitor the fridge in case the temperature rises.
“The security company can call me any time of the day or night so I can go save my vaccines,” said Dr. Irvin, a pediatrician. Those in the refrigerator recently cost $70,000, she said — “more than I paid for four years of medical school.”
Vaccination prices have gone from single digits to sometimes triple digits in the last two decades, creating dilemmas for doctors and their patients as well as straining public health budgets. Here in San Antonio and elsewhere, some doctors have stopped offering immunizations because they say they cannot afford to buy these potentially lifesaving preventive treatments that insurers often reimburse poorly, sometimes even at a loss.
Childhood immunizations are so vital to public health that the Affordable Care Act mandates their coverage at no out-of-pocket cost and they are generally required for school entry. Once a loss leader for manufacturers, because they are often more expensive to produce than conventional drugs, vaccines now can be very profitable.
Old vaccines have been reformulated with higher costs. New ones have entered the market at once-unthinkable prices. Together, since 1986, they have pushed up the average cost to fully vaccinate a child with private insurance to the age of 18 to $2,192 from $100, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Even with deep discounts, the costs for the federal government, which buys half of all vaccines for the nation’s children, have increased 15-fold during that period. The most expensive shot for young children in Dr. Irvin’s refrigerator is Prevnar 13, which prevents diseases caused by pneumococcal bacteria, from ear infections to pneumonia.

Nowadays, newborns are injected with as many as over 30 vaccines before the age of three, but the array of non-ingredients that are found in vaccines have been shown to be unsafe. Yehuda Shoenfeld, also known as the “Godfather of Autoimmunology” is an Israeli clinician who has spent over three decades studying the human immune system. According to a recent article published in the journal Pharmacological Research, the physician joined forces with some of his colleagues and concluded that vaccines [their ingredients, specifically aluminium] represent a significant contributor to the soaring global epidemic of autoimmune diseases. In the article, Dr Shoenfeld and his colleagues issued unprecedented guidelines identifying four categories of people who are most at risk for autoimmunity induced by vaccine.
An autoimmune disorder occurs when the immune system wrongly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. There are currently over 80 different types of autoimmune disorders. The paper’s authors acknowledge that vaccines prevent infections that can cause autoimmunity, but they also accept conclusions issued by plenty of reports, namely that vaccines can also trigger autoimmunity. Autoimmune diseases which can occur post-vaccination are lupus, arthritis, diabetes mellitus and others, but “almost all types of vaccines have been reported to be associated with the onset of ASIA.”
ASIA is “a wide concept that includes any environmental factor which is demonstrated to trigger autoimmune conditions,” according to Ignasi Rodriguez-Pinto, autoimmunologist at the Barcelona Hospital Clinic. The umbrella term was first identified by Dr Shoenfeld in the Journal of Autoimmunology in 2011 and includes a large spectrum of neurological and immune-mediated phenomena observed following vaccine injections that result from exposure to ingredients such as aluminium. Dr Rodriguez-Pinto pointed out that vaccination for Hepatitis B can also trigger ASIA. The “Grandfather of Autoimmunology” wrote in the paper published in the journal Pharmacological Research that “throughout our lifetime, the normal immune system walks a fine line between preserving normal immune reactions and developing autoimmune diseases.”

Dr. Shoenfeld has even been referred to as the “Godfather of Autoimmunology.” Autoimmunology is the study of the immune system when it is has turned against itself, resulting in a myriad of conditions including ulcertive colitis, multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes.
Lately, Dr. Shoenfeld has been shaking up the world of immunology with evidence that suggests that vaccines may indeed be playing a role in the onset of autoimmune disease. Specifically, some of the star ingredients found in vaccines — like aluminum, a toxic metal — are likely at the helm of the worldwide increase in autoimmune disorders. Evidence supporting this theory has been mounting over the last 15 years, but a noticeably stark increase in research has occured in the last five years. For example, recent study, authored by Dr. Shoenfeld and his colleagues, was published by the journal Pharmacological Research in 2015. In their report, the researchers identified four groups of people who will be most at risk of developing an autoimmune disease following vaccination.
The paper’s authors note that while vaccines may help to prevent illnesses that can cause autoimmunity, “On the other hand, many reports that describe post-vaccination autoimmunity strongly suggest that vaccines can indeed trigger autoimmunity.” The researchers state that “Almost all types of vaccines have been reported to be associated with the onset of ASIA [autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants].” The autoimmune diseases that may develop after vaccination include arthritis, lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE) diabetes mellitus, thrombocytopenia, vasculitis, dermatomyosiositis, Guillain-Barre syndrome and demyelinating disorders. Demyelinating disorders include conditions like multiple sclerosis. Demyelination refers to degradation of the myelin sheath — an insulating material that covers nerves — and results in impaired function of said nerves.
The term ASIA first appeared in the Journal of Autoimmunology a few years ago and is used as an umbrella term to describe a group of similar symptoms that appear after exposure to an adjuvant. Adjuvants are environmental agents, including common vaccine ingredients, that are known to spark the immune system into action. Using ASIA as a model, a massive amount of research has been conducted to begin answering questions surrounding environmental toxins, particularly the metal aluminum used in vaccines, and how they can create an immune system chain reaction in vulnerable individuals, as well as how they can possibly lead to autoimmune disease.
Autoimmune disease is the result of the body’s immune system turning against itself and the human body. When the immune system is functioning normally, it attacks foreign invaders of the body, such as a pathogenic bacteria. In the case of autoimmune disease, however, the immune system has begun attacking the body’s own cells somewhere within the body. In the case of type 1 diabetes, the immune system has targeted the Islets of Langerhans found in the pancreas. In rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system has begun attacking joint tissue. Similar events happen within other autoimmune diseases, but affecting different types of bodily tissues.
Several studies have indicated that the aluminium currently being used in vaccines is a great cause for concern, especially when it comes to autoimmune disease. A 2012 paper authored by researchers from the Neural Dynamics Research Group of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of British Columbia, located in Canada, noted, “According to the US Food and Drug Administration, safety assessments for vaccines have often not included appropriate toxicity studies because vaccines have not been viewed as inherently toxic.”

The Mosaic of Autoimmunity, Autoantibodies, Diagnostic Criteria in Autoimmune Diseases, Infection and Autoimmunity, Cancer and Autoimmunity – the list is 25 titles long and some of them are cornerstones of clinical practice. Hardly surprising that Shoenfeld has been called the “Godfather of Autoimmunology” – the study of the immune system turned on itself in a wide array of diseases from type 1 diabetes to ulcerative colitis and multiple sclerosis.
But something strange is happening in the world of immunology lately and a small evidence of it is that the Godfather of Autoimmunology is pointing to vaccines – specifically, some of their ingredients including the toxic metal aluminum – as a significant contributor to the growing global epidemic of autoimmune diseases. The bigger evidence is a huge body of research that’s poured in in the past 15 years, and particularly in the past five years. Take for example, a recent article published in the journal Pharmacological Research in which Shoenfeld and colleagues issue unprecedented guidelines naming four categories of people who are most at risk for vaccine-induced autoimmunity.
“On one hand,” vaccines prevent infections which can trigger autoimmunity, say the paper’s authors, Alessandra Soriano, of the Department of Clinical Medicine and Rheumatology at the Campus Bio-Medico University in Rome, Gideon Nesher, of the Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem and Shoenfeld, founder and head of the Zabludowicz Center of Autoimmune Diseases in the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. He is also editor of three medical journals and author of more than 1,500 research papers across the spectrum of medical journalism and founder of the International Congress on Autoimmunology. “On the other hand, many reports that describe post-vaccination autoimmunity strongly suggest that vaccines can indeed trigger autoimmunity. Defined autoimmune diseases that may occur following vaccinations include arthritis, lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE) diabetes mellitus, thrombocytopenia, vasculitis, dermatomyosiositis, Guillain-Barre syndrome and demyelinating disorders. Almost all types of vaccines have been reported to be associated with the onset of ASIA.”

Study – Mechanisms of aluminum adjuvant toxicity and autoimmunity in pediatric populations.
Abstract
Immune challenges during early development, including those vaccine-induced, can lead to permanent detrimental alterations of the brain and immune function. Experimental evidence also shows that simultaneous administration of as little as two to three immune adjuvants can overcome genetic resistance to autoimmunity. In some developed countries, by the time children are 4 to 6 years old, they will have received a total of 126 antigenic compounds along with high amounts of aluminum (Al) adjuvants through routine vaccinations. According to the US Food and Drug Administration, safety assessments for vaccines have often not included appropriate toxicity studies because vaccines have not been viewed as inherently toxic. Taken together, these observations raise plausible concerns about the overall safety of current childhood vaccination programs. When assessing adjuvant toxicity in children, several key points ought to be considered: (i) infants and children should not be viewed as “small adults” with regard to toxicological risk as their unique physiology makes them much more vulnerable to toxic insults; (ii) in adult humans Al vaccine adjuvants have been linked to a variety of serious autoimmune and inflammatory conditions (i.e., “ASIA”), yet children are regularly exposed to much higher amounts of Al from vaccines than adults; (iii) it is often assumed that peripheral immune responses do not affect brain function. However, it is now clearly established that there is a bidirectional neuro-immune cross-talk that plays crucial roles in immunoregulation as well as brain function. In turn, perturbations of the neuro-immune axis have been demonstrated in many autoimmune diseases encompassed in “ASIA” and are thought to be driven by a hyperactive immune response; and (iv) the same components of the neuro-immune axis that play key roles in brain development and immune function are heavily targeted by Al adjuvants. In summary, research evidence shows that increasing concerns about current vaccination practices may indeed be warranted. Because children may be most at risk of vaccine-induced complications, a rigorous evaluation of the vaccine-related adverse health impacts in the pediatric population is urgently needed.

Study – Predicting post-vaccination autoimmunity: who might be at risk?
Abstract
Vaccinations have been used as an essential tool in the fight against infectious diseases, and succeeded in improving public health. However, adverse effects, including autoimmune conditions may occur following vaccinations (autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants–ASIA syndrome). It has been postulated that autoimmunity could be triggered or enhanced by the vaccine immunogen contents, as well as by adjuvants, which are used to increase the immune reaction to the immunogen. Fortunately, vaccination-related ASIA is uncommon. Yet, by defining individuals at risk we may further limit the number of individuals developing post-vaccination ASIA. In this perspective we defined four groups of individuals who might be susceptible to develop vaccination-induced ASIA: patients with prior post-vaccination autoimmune phenomena, patients with a medical history of autoimmunity, patients with a history of allergic reactions, and individuals who are prone to develop autoimmunity (having a family history of autoimmune diseases; asymptomatic carriers of autoantibodies; carrying certain genetic profiles, etc.).

Abstract
Vaccines and autoimmunity are linked fields. Vaccine efficacy is based on whether host immune response against an antigen can elicit a memory T-cell response over time. Although the described side effects thus far have been mostly transient and acute, vaccines are able to elicit the immune system towards an autoimmune reaction. The diagnosis of a definite autoimmune disease and the occurrence of fatal outcome post-vaccination have been less frequently reported. Since vaccines are given to previously healthy hosts, who may have never developed the disease had they not been immunized, adverse events should be carefully accessed and evaluated even if they represent a limited number of occurrences. In this review of the literature, there is evidence of vaccine-induced autoimmunity and adjuvant-induced autoimmunity in both experimental models as well as human patients. Adjuvants and infectious agents may exert their immune-enhancing effects through various functional activities, encompassed by the adjuvant effect. These mechanisms are shared by different conditions triggered by adjuvants leading to the autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA syndrome). In conclusion, there are several case reports of autoimmune diseases following vaccines, however, due to the limited number of cases, the different classifications of symptoms and the long latency period of the diseases, every attempt for an epidemiological study has so far failed to deliver a connection. Despite this, efforts to unveil the connection between the triggering of the immune system by adjuvants and the development of autoimmune conditions should be undertaken. Vaccinomics is a field that may bring to light novel customized, personalized treatment approaches in the future.

Study – On vaccine’s adjuvants and autoimmunity: Current evidence and future perspectives.
Abstract
Adjuvants are compounds incorporated into vaccines to enhance immunogenicity and the development of these molecules has become an expanding field of research in the last decades. Adding an adjuvant to a vaccine antigen leads to several advantages, including dose sparing and the induction of a more rapid, broader and strong immune response. Several of these molecules have been approved, including aluminium salts, oil-in-water emulsions (MF59, AS03 and AF03), virosomes and AS04. Adjuvants have recently been implicated in the new syndrome named “ASIA-Autoimmune/inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants”, which describes an umbrella of clinical conditions including post-vaccination adverse reactions. Recent studies implicate a web of mechanisms in the development of vaccine adjuvant-induced autoimmune diseases, in particular, in those associated with aluminium-based compounds. Fewer and unsystematised data are instead available about other adjuvants, despite recent evidence indicating that vaccines with different adjuvants may also cause specific autoimmune adverse reactions possible towards different pathogenic mechanisms. This topic is of importance as the specific mechanism of action of each single adjuvant may have different effects on the course of different diseases. Herein, we review the current evidence about the mechanism of action of currently employed adjuvants and discuss the mechanisms by which such components may trigger autoimmunity.

CDC Chief Admits that Vaccines Trigger Autism

Recently Julie Gerberding, the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), appeared on Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s show House Call and explained that vaccines can trigger autism in a vulnerable subset of children. This is the claim that many parents have been making since at least the 1980s, and they have been dismissed and even mocked for making it.
The U.S. government has gone on the record saying that childhood vaccines can contribute to the symptoms of autism. They have then backtracked and stated that there is no association.
So which is it?
Well, by the time your child starts school, he or she will have received more than 36 injections, including four doses each of vaccines for Hemophilus influenzae type b infections, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis — all of them given during the first 12 months of life.
And by then, it may be too late for the CDC to make up their mind about whether or not vaccines can be dangerous.
In 1976, children received 10 vaccines before attending school, and in the early 1980s, the incidence of autism was 1 in 10,000 births. Today, it is 1 in 150 births and still climbing.

Julie Gerberding, the head of the CDC, went on CNN’s House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta to discuss the Hannah Poling case and admitted that vaccines trigger autism in a subset of the population with mitochondrial disorders.
It is time for Dr. Gerberding to answer some hard questions before congress.
Call for congressional hearings into the Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund autism cases, so we can find out what the government knows about the relationship between vaccines and autism.

Addendum: Gerberding/CDC/HHS has given several names to the phenomenon of Vaccine Induced Autism. Gerberding calls it the “symptoms of autism” in this interview, “autism like syndrome” during a previous CDC press conference and HHS refers to it as “vaccine induced encepalopathy” on their website for the Vaccine Injury Compensation fund.
I wrote this piece (see link below) to point out the absurdity of trying to fool the American people into thinking that vaccines cause something that looks exactly like autism, and in fact is diagnosed as autism by every professional the child sees, but is actually an “autism like syndrome” with the “symptoms of autism” that occurred following a “vaccine induced encepalopathy” which has the exact same symptoms as autism, but it is not really autism… oh… and by the way… vaccines don’t cause autism.
It is time to end the word games and deal with the problem.

Trying to have a debate here is making me nuts.

UPDATE: Dr. Gerberding resigned from her post at the request of the Obama Administration when he took office on January 20th, 2009.
She quickly went to work for Global PR giant Edelman, who represents PHARMA and several of their member companies like Merck. Edelman is responsible for the “One Less” Guardasil campaign.
She served on the “Edelman Global Task Force on H1N1 Influenza”, appearing on media outlets encouraging swine flu vaccination, even referring to vaccines as “magical”, but never mentioned that she was now working as paid vaccine salesman.
On December 21, 2009, Merck announced that Julie Gerberding would be the new head of their vaccine division. Merck makes the MMR that injured Hannah Poling.
Current guidelines are that someone cannot go to work for a company that they have regulated for one year and three business days.
That would be January 25th 2010 for Julie.
Right on time.
My guess, this was really the plan all along. Watch the video again. Suddenly it makes sense just why she would make such a fool of herself by going on TV and saying that vaccines do and do not cause autism. She probably knew that her pay off was less than two years away.

Vaccines Trigger Autism in Genetically Susceptible Children.

At that point in time, there were 4,800 families who had petitioned the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) and were waiting to be heard in “vaccine court” – where there is no jury of peers, no fair trial. A court-appointed “special master” hears the case and decides whether or not the family will be compensated for the injuries sustained by the vaccines that were administered.
Why? In 1986, vaccine manufacturers were granted immunity to lawsuits and could no longer be sued when their products inevitably cause death or injury. They are not liable. After the law was passed, the number of shots in the CDC schedule increased dramatically. No liability, no reason to proceed with caution. More vaccines developed, and more vaccines recommended or mandated by the CDC = more $$$. No other industry has this kind of legal protection.
As of 2012, the VICP has awarded/paid out over three billion dollars to the families of vaccine-injured children. And of course, this only represents the fraction of petitions of vaccine injuries and deaths, for which special masters decide to grant compensation. Two-thirds of all petitions are denied. Unfortunately, the independent scientific evidence showing that vaccines and their ingredients can and do trigger autism is typically ignored by our government, and the fraudulent CDC study which claimed to end the debate on whether or not the MMR vaccine caused autism has been used to deny vaccine injury victims compensation by the VICP. Considering the impediments that parents experience in getting their child’s vaccine-induce autism recognized by medial professionals and our government, if the amount paid out by the VICP reflected the true amount of vaccine-injured children, it would be much, much higher.
In 2010, the U.S. government awarded the family of Hannah Poling 1.5+ million dollars for vaccine-induced autism.
